Technical Courses

Industrial Drying, Principles, Selection and Design

This comprehensive five day course is designed to provide delegates with up-to-date information about all aspects of industrial drying, from fundamental principles and technical details of the equipment to problem solving and improving operations. The course will focus on batch and continuous drying of particulate materials from foods to inorganic chemicals. It will cover both direct dryers (conveyor, flash, fluid bed, rotary, spray) and indirect dryers (disc, rotary, screw flight). The participants will gain a working knowledge of the fundamentals of drying, process design of dryers, how to improve dryer efficiency and how to reduce operating and energy costs.

Course Objectives
This course provides information and methods that you can put to use immediately, including how to:

  • Improve drying operations
  • Reduce operating and energy costs
  • Select proper equipment to fulfill the process objectives
  • Estimate process design requirements
  • Apply practical knowledge to drying problems
  • Conduct dryer surveys as an aid to problem solving and improving operations
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for engineers, technologists and technicians involved in developing, designing, selecting, operating and/or upgrading industrial drying systems. This course is aimed at a wide audience and will be suitable for those working in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and dairy industries.
